At the 2018 New York Auto Show, Kia unveiled the second generation of the K900, but the full-size sedan had a short-lived stint in the United States, where it was discontinued just three years later. The company’s flagship model is still sold in other markets, including its native South Korea, where it’s known as the K9. Following a significant update in 2021, the upscale sedan is undergoing another facelift.
This time around, the changes aren’t as significant, as Kia is merely tweaking the front grille, replacing the old V-shaped elements with horizontal bars. Additionally, the 2025 K9 receives a new design for its 19-inch wheels and a fresh Pebble Gray body color. Inside the luxurious cabin, new themes such as Martian Brown or Misty Gray are now available.
The «After Blow» technology has been added, aimed at drying condensation formed during air conditioner use to prevent unpleasant odors. Approximately 30 minutes after the engine is turned off, «After Blow» automatically activates for 10 minutes to dry the ventilation ducts and prevent mold growth. A battery sensor ensures the system doesn’t activate if the car’s battery charge is low. Moreover, the feature remains disabled in low outdoor temperatures and if the air conditioner has not been used for an extended period.
Other changes introduced in the 2025 Kia K9 include a massage seat for the front passenger, USB-C ports in the front and rear, and a fire extinguisher. There’s now more standard equipment than before, while top-tier trims also come with some conveniences that were previously offered as optional features.
Kia will continue sales of its top-tier model with rear- and all-wheel drive, as well as with turbocharged 3.3-liter and naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V-6 engines. The large 5.0-liter V-8 engine was discontinued several years ago.
