Porsche has decided to cease production of the current generation of its sports cars Boxster and Cayman well ahead of schedule due to their non-compliance with the new European safety standards, which are set to take effect as early as July of this year.
According to Porsche’s official spokesperson Oliver Hilger, the reason for discontinuing the production of these coupes and convertibles was the inadequacy of their electrical architecture to meet the new cybersecurity standards in European Union countries. Additionally, the company estimates that the modernization of the vehicles would cost approximately half the price of developing a new model, making this decision economically unviable.
Earlier in March of this year, the automaker Porsche announced the size of the bonus that its employees will receive for the year 2023. It turns out that the annual bonus at Porsche will be twice as high as the similar compensation paid to Volkswagen employees.
